Position: Woodsmen Varsity Coach
Macdonald Campus Athletics and Recreation is hiring a coach for the Woodsmen varsity team. The Woodsmen coach leads a team of university-aged athletes, men and women, in logger sports, developing a high level of skill and appreciation for the sport.
Dates: September 2019 to March 2020 as required
Responsible to the Assistant Athletic Director Mac Campus for all matters relating to the organization, administration and philosophy of the Woodsmen team.
Acts as a positive role model and team leader
Leads the tryouts and picks the teams (Men 1 & 2, Women 1 & 2)
Accompanies the team to their 4 competitions
Ensures that the team adheres to all safety protocols and the Athlete Code of Conduct
Confirms all equipment is in good working condition and that the practice and competition sites are safe to practice and compete
Leads four Woodsmen practices per week: Mon-Thurs 6:00-7:30 am
Helps Mac in hosting the annual Woodsmen competition
Skilled in logger sports
Knowledge of logger-specific equipment and the skill to perform basic repairs
Knowledge of safety requirements during practices & competitions
Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and a positive attitude
Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings and some weekends
English and French spoken
Prior experience as a Woodsmen an asset
Arborist certification an asset

Position: Specialized B: Sports Official (Volleyball)
Duties: Pick up equipment, set up, officiate game, scoring, game reports, as required
Starting salary: $14.25/hr - 4% vacation pay and compensation for Legal Holidays included.
Duration: September to December 2019, as required.
