Macdonald Campus Athletics & Recreation

Macdonald Campus Athletics and Recreation is hiring attendants and instructors to work at the Mac Paddle Shack. Located on the Macdonald Campus in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the Paddle Shack rents stand-up paddleboards (SUPs), kayaks and canoes to the general public and the Mac community. Additionally, we offer paddling lessons, SUP yoga courses, social paddles, corporate events and more.

Mac Paddle Shack Attendant (Athletics Attendant)

The Athletics Attendant will facilitate the rental program dealing with patrons, allocating equipment and ensuring that all safety protocols and program procedures are followed. 

Hourly Wage: $13.89/hour - plus 4% vacation pay and 3.6% statutory holiday indemnity

Dates: May 19 to September 3, 2018 as required, with possibility of extension

Responsibilities:

Checks-in patrons and ensures payment has been made

Gets equipment ready for all patrons (boat, lifejacket and paddle)

Ensures that patrons adhere to all safety protocols and program procedures

Confirms all equipment handed out is in good working condition

Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the program and schedule

Qualifications:

First Aid and CPR certification

Pleasure Craft Operator Card

Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and a positive attitude

Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

French and English spoken

 

Paddle Instructor

The Paddling Instructor has the ability to teach paddling in a relaxed, clear and confident manner in English and French to a variety of participants. Has a firm understanding of the skills and skill development necessary to teach basic paddling (SUP, kayak, canoe).

Hourly wage:  $15/hour - plus 4% vacation pay and 3.6% statutory holiday indemnity

Dates: June - September 3, 2018 as required

Responsibilities:

Guides the Intro to Paddling lessons, school groups and corporate events

Checks-in patrons and ensures payment has been made

Gets equipment ready for all patrons (boat, lifejacket and paddle)

Ensures that patrons adhere to all safety protocols and program procedures

Confirms all equipment handed out is in good working condition

Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the group lessons

Qualifications:

Certification or specialized training in paddle sports (stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing) 

First Aid and CPR certification

Pleasure Craft Operator Card

Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and a positive attitude

Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

French and English spoken

 

Paddle Board Yoga & SUP Fitness Instructors

The Instructor possesses the ability to teach paddleboard yoga and/or paddleboard fitness in a relaxed, clear and confident manner in English and French to a variety of participants. Proven experience required.

Hourly wage:  $38.50/hour - plus 4% vacation pay and 3.6% statutory holiday indemnity

Dates: June - September 3, 2018 as required, with possibility of extension

Responsibilities:

Leads the SUP yoga classes

Ensures that patrons adhere to all safety protocols and program procedures

Qualifications:

Certification or specialized training in yoga

First Aid and CPR certification

Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and a positive attitude

Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

French and English spoken
