(with the exception of Staff Yoga, Staff Pilates & Staff Spinning - priority goes to McGill staff, then JAC staff and public can register as of December 22nd)

Note:  Registration for fitness classes does not include a membership to our Fitness Center.  Memberships must be purchased to use the facility.

Prices for Lunch/Staff classes (12 weeks, no classes March 5-9 for the study break):

A minimum of 10 people registered is necessary to run the course.  

  • McGill Staff:  $17.40 + taxes
  • Complex Members & JAC staff:  $45 + taxes ($35 for Tai Chi & Strength/Stretch once per week)
  • Non-members & Community:  $50 + taxes ($40 for Tai Chi & Strength/Stretch once per week)
  • Drop-In fee per class $8 + taxes

STAFF YOGA:  Mon & Wed - 12:15pm-1pm (Studio) Maureen

Yoga can be as much or as little as you want it to be. For some it is purely a physical pursuit, keeping the body toned, strong and flexible. For others, yoga becomes more of a mindset and a way of living. Whatever your reason for practicing, or your level of experience – you'll love the class.  (Space is limited, so registration priority goes to McGill staff until Dec 22).

BOOT CAMP:  Mon 11:30-12:15 pm & Wed 12:30-1:15pm (Gym)  Chelsea

Open to staff, students and general community - Looking to spice up your strength training routine? Boost your conditioning and confidence to the next level using a variety of functional training equipment.  Challenge yourself and watch your transformation.

STRENGTH, CORE & MORE:  Mon & Friday 12:20-1:05 pm (Gym) Caroline

Strength, Core & More mixes core strengthening, weights, and basic movements in one incredible workout. A great option for anyone looking for an efficient, effective way to get their body  in shape. You'll combine weights with functional movement patterns to build a core strong enough to support an active lifestyle.

TAI CHI Wednesday - 11:45-12:30pm (Gym) Leon

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.  Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements.If you're looking for a way to reduce stress, consider tai chi.

TOTAL BODY FITNESS:  Tues & Thurs 12:15-1pm (Gym) Cathy

Open to staff and students - A strength training class targeting major muscle groups using various equipment and body weight. TBF incorporates bursts of cardio into movements intended to help you tone all major muscles (Note: this class only begins January 16, 2018).

STAFF SPINNING:  Tues & Thurs 12:15-1pm (Studio)  Jenn

Spinning is a great way to sweat off those calories, improve performance and give you a great work out.  This great cardio workout will get you in tip-top shape.  Get on the bike and ride!  The instructor will lead you through a series of hills, sprints, and flats, while listening to great music!  (Space is limited, so registration priority goes to McGill staff until Dec 22).

POWER PILATES: Friday 12:15-1:00 pm (Studio) Jenn

Power Pilates is designed to make the maximum use of your time by targeting the deep postural muscles of the body, building strength from the inside out and re-balancing your muscles. Power Pilates attacks the roots of bad posture by toning little-used muscle groups in the abdomen, torso, upper and lower back, while incorporating a slow breathing technique to energise the body. You don't have to be an athlete or dancer to benefit from the increased body awareness and strength found through the practice of Pilates. Yoga mats recommended. (Space is limited, so registration priority goes to McGill staff until Dec 22).
