MAC Woodsmen/Women Perform Solidly at Fleming College
The Macdonald Woodsmen Women’s A team earned top honors in a 10-team pool at the 35th Annual Loggersports Competition at Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario, November 4. The Men’s A team finished fourth of 12 teams.
The Men’s B team wasn’t far behind finishing in seventh position, while the Women’s B team took ninth position in their very first competition, demonstrating great dedication and sportsmanship throughout the day long event.
The Women’s A team amassed five first place finishes; Justine Paré and Leslie MacKinnon in quarter split, Joséanne Naud in single buck, Naud & Danielle Duquette in standing block chop, Jessica Rouleau in super swede and a full team effort in the swede saw. Earning second place honours was Leslie MacKinnon in axe throw, Danielle Duquette in chainsaw and the full team in the crosscut event. Women’s B, led by captain Camille Pion, an Agricultural and Environmental Sciences student from Stanbridge Station, Qc, had a very good competition, placing well in all team events.
On the men’s side, Thierry Philippot and Alex Dohmen came first in axe throw and single buck respectively. Second place finishes were awarded to Matt Baillon and Alex Dohmen in standing block chop and Matthew Swennen in chainsaw. In the team events the Men’s A, led by captain Ollivier Lemarre-Tellier, a biosresource engineering student from Montreal, Qc, placed second in log deck and third in team crosscut. On the Men’s B team Maxime Leclerc came first in chain saw and Andrew Mosher sawed his way to second place in single buck.
The next Woodsmen competition will be held at Macdonald Campus January 27, 2018.
