Update – Renovations to the Mac Athletics Fitness Centre
Renovations to the Mac Fitness Centre are ongoing, with the opening date pushed back to the week of September 24, 2018. Understanding that many of you are anxious to workout, we’ve added some additional programming to the outdoor gym, which we encourage you to use until the Fitness Centre is ready.
We also have lots of other facilities on campus where you can work up a sweat. “Like” the Mac Athletics Facebook page and be sure to keep your eye on the Mac Athletics website for updates. You can also see all your rec options in one place with our Rec at a Glance calendar for the fall.
Here’s a list of your workout options starting September 4.
Outdoor gym – Located behind Laird Hall, the outdoor gym has all the equipment needed for a great body weight workout. For those who want more variety, we’re installing a selection of kettlebells, dumbbells and other portable strength training equipment in a locked box on site. An attendant will be at the gym 4-7 pm Monday through Thursday to make the equipment available. A fitness trainer will also be on hand at select times to help student and staff become acquainted with the gym and to offer workout tips. Download the TrekFit mobile app for workout ideas.
Gymnasium – Located on the 3rd floor of the Mac Sports Complex, the gym has plenty of free hours for you to shoot hoops, play badminton or volleyball. Check out the schedule for open gym times.
Outdoor fields – Throw a football, kick a soccer ball, play Spikeball, volleyball or toss a disc. Balls and Frisbees are available in the office of the Mac Sports Complex.
Paddle Mac – Rent a kayak, paddleboard or canoe and explore the local waters. We also have inflatables and plenty of lawn games for non-paddlers. Student pricing available.
